1. I believe that the aim of argument that should have been deployed in this video clip is persuasion.
2. Steve Carell was trying to persuade Steven Colbert to concede about Death Tax and he would as long as he knew it wouldn’t get traced back to him. There was no real persuasion. No real information.
3. Both actors are well informed and they know what they are talking about.. they know the ingredients to the mix. Steve and Steven both share their opinions and criticize each other. They had their audience in mind in the beginning and the end of the skit as they introduced the subject and as they were closing the act.
4. There was no follow up. They had a conversation then they both agreed that the conversation they had didn’t happen and they won’t talk about it again. They didn’t argue with their audience in mind, it was a one on one conversation in front of their audience.
