- I believe Johnsons is telling his readers that you don’t learn one specific skill for only that topic. He is informing us that when we are learning, we are growing a tool that we can use to fix multiple things
- Johnson states, “Learning algebra isn’t about acquiring a specific tool; it’s about building up a mental muscle that will come in handy elsewhere.” This is evidence to what I believe his claim is.
- I believe I see rhetorical when Johnson says “It’s not what you’re thinking about when you’re playing a game, it’s the way you’re thinking that matters.” and whenever Johnson makes a statement about playing chess because that is his evidence.
- Personally, I do find this article convincing because it makes sense and I have had personal experience with it. I went through basic training and practiced combat skills everyday. Not just to use only in the combat zone, but if I ever need them to protect myself for example.
